The most iconic and infamous destroyer of the commonwealth forces in World War 2, The Tribal has become synonymous with the Canadian Naval war effort.
So much so in fact that only one remains, the Haida - as a floating museum, the "Fightingest Ship of the Royal Canadian Navy".
The Tribals were initially supposed to be light fleet cruisers, but as the war progressed, emphasis on speed and firepower became the order of the day.
They were fast, bristling with guns and torpedoes, and mean.
The Royal Canadian Navy named each of their destroyers after a fearsome tribe of first nations people, The Athabaskan, Iroquois, Cayuga, Huron, Micmac, Nootka, and most infamously, the Haida, G63 which appears in our decal. The words famously uttered by many a captain, but in this particular case, Comdr. DeWolf "Action Stations, Close to Engage".
It was said by one sailor "There isn't a man aboard who would trade this ship for any other. When She's fighting, she seems almost alive!".
